The Queen Mary carried 16,683 troops in July 1943, setting an all-time record in the process [Jul. 5th, 2008|02:22 pm]

[sombersigh]

In stifling heat the converted superliner transported these brave men across the Atlantic Ocean. Every man aboard had to wear a life-jacket at all times, in case of a torpedo attack. Holder of the Blue Riband* the Queen Mary could outspeed any Axis warship, but she was vulnerable to potential U-boat attacks. She and the Queen Elizabeth had both been converted to troopships, and played an invaluable part to the Allies during WWII. As a side-note, the Queen Mary only had lifeboats and rafts for 8,000... But both queens proved to be lucky ships and performed their duties whilst evading the enemy throughout the war.

So, this is the character I had in mind to tattoo if anyone can get to our studio this Wednesday (9th).

Just to go back over the deal you'd be paying a drastically reduced fee of £100 for the full piece (they'll be at least £350 after Derby tattoo convention), but you might need to come back for another session to have it finished as it's going to be at least 10 hours of work.

I'd prefer someone who can sit for most of the day to get as much done as possible (starting at 11am, finishing around 5, preferably) and would rather tattoo her on an arm or leg.

I doubt I can get all the tiny details in, but I'd give it a damn good try if it looks possible.

(obviously I'll work on her missing arm!)

Leave a comment if you're interested :)

Alternatively we could look at a more customised character/pinup piece, but it would have to be something that fits in with my style and that can be designed at short notice.
