Guild Of The Black Eagle 3 Oct. 6th

Hi everyone, we are getting ready for the third
installment of The Guild of The Black Eagle salon exhibition. Hope the
ones of you in NYC can make it, its always a great time.

All the best

David

Fwd from: David Hochbaum

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I am very happy to announce the third
installment of The Guild of The Black Eagle salon exhibition. These shows
are a survey of new works by some of the finest fresh talents I find myself
surrounded by. About twice a year I clear my studio out to make room to give
these people a chance to show their work in a different setting rather than
a standard gallery setting in NYC. Its a great opportunity for folks around
here to get a look and meet many of that artists in this growing and tight
community of talent who are part of the contemporary scene who supports and
pushes each other. There are no restrictions to boarders or styles. We have
East and west coast and in between. The work is for sale but this is not the
motive to the show. We take no commission from the artist which gives the
collector a chance to get work for slightly less than normal. So please come
out to see this rare and special show.
Also on a sadder note, we will be showing work from a dear departed
addition to our NY scene, Carlucci who left too soon this summer. All too
soon. But these type of happenings are what we here do to continue the
energy and motivation of our still vibrant and unique community, and he
loved this stuff. We love and miss you Carlucci.

Guild Of The Black Eagle 3 Sat. October 6th 7 to 11pm
Hochbaum Studio 93 2nd Avenue Btwn.5th and 6th streets buzzer 1 NYC
Here is who we have lined up for this one.

Travis Lindquist
Colin Burns
Jonny Fenix
Steve Ellis
Kevin Willis
R.
Group Show TONIGHT in NYC

Dear friends on Friday March 17th (7-10pm) I will be taking part in this group show at Zito Gallery. Hope NYC people can join us

Zito Studio Gallery 122 Ludlow Street NYC 10002

646.602.2338
www.zitogallery.com

Press release:

On Friday March 17th (7-10pm) Zito Studio Gallery does it again with a group of the very best artists New York has to offer. With a squinty eye and a filthy ear pressed firmly against the third rail, Senor Zito takes yet another leap into the curatorial abyss, pulling together a trend-splintering force of brilliance that will leave the "Art World" speechless. They're either so blown away by this exhibit that they have absolutely nothing to say or they're just all too busy watching some poor grunt polish their new yellow Hummer. But we ain’t got time for that! We're here on this planet to make art - and to show art - and to show the world how to make art! This is work made by artists who use their hands - and actually do the creating themselves. That’s right. Here at Zito Studio Gallery you will find no processed cheese-food art made by underpaid nameless artisans and signed by industry-validated prima-donnas. Hell no! This is the real deal. Real art made by real artists - people with more than just ideas and money... people who live and breathe their art with passion and dignity. This is art made out of necessity - pulled from deep down within the soul and expressed as a shamanic call for the masses to open their eyes to the truth. These are artists that will never retire. These are not people who are, as Leonard Cohen put it, "reaching for the sky just to surrender".
Is anybody interested in the truth? Does anyone feel the need for some substance? Or are you still all fascinated by the shimmering light reflected off of Britney's wardrobe in the bated hopes of a cleverly scripted malfunction that would allow a hallowed glimpse of her precious silicone? In that case, we will be forced to give up on you and declare you a casualty of mainstream mediocrity.

Artists:

David Stoupakis
Chickenman
Leandro Maciel
Teo Olivieri
Francesca Romeo
Kimberly Hauer
Sean Gallegos
Tom Matt
Joel Magee
Duke Riley
John John Jesse
Lauren Utter
and
Bambi the Mermaid

The exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, September 10th from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

This exhibition will showcase the works of both artists as well as one collaborative piece that the artists created for this show. Although very different in approach and technique, David and David's works play off one another as if siblings who finish each other's sentences. Both artists are creating an individual atmosphere to transport the viewer into the artist's metaphorical visions of landscape and flesh.

Intensely personal, yet drawing from the depths of the collective unconscious, New York-based painter David Hochbaum's recent works suggest pages torn from an illuminated manuscript, one that details the stages of grief. Hochbaum combines photography, silk screens, acetate transfers and traditional painting techniques to create wildly mythopoeic images--a young woman riding a monster fish, a horse-headed man contemplating the gift of fire, a wild boar so huge it threatens to trample a house into the dust--that tell a story of departure, longing, and sorrow. All the characters in his work are messengers, and their message is both hard and beautiful: loss is a crucible that purifies the soul.

Extraordinary souls are stimulating stories in the minds that look on the paintings of David Stoupakis. This self-taught New York artist paints alive and brimming worlds that have a place in this life on their own terms. Yet, one can almost get that renaissance feel as if his works have existed for centuries this way. Much of the artwork has been inspired by strong and damaged children who demand answers to the questions no one hears. Their fears and innocence seem to be lost in a echo of motion. Many hidden questions and answers are all around in David’s paintings. While the true meanings are personal to the artist himself, the results are on display for all realities to view and solve the puzzle for themselves.
